Quickly, his head snapped to the right, eyes panickly twitching from side to side.
He had HEARD them, he had HEARD them— the CHILDREN!! Those pesky
brats responsible – no, he hadn’t heard them —– he had heard ONE!! Only one of
them!! He had heard them LAUGH; slowly, taunting. A TERRIFIED screech left
the abomination as he turned around, expecting one of the ghost to stand behind
him. Nothing. Yet the feeling lingered; being watched, being trapped while haunted
by vengeful spirits…

The child laughs again. The giggle sounds innocent, happy and playful. But there is nothing innocent about it. She’s hiding, but only hidden enough to confuse him. He can’t see her. He H A T E S that he can’t see her.
